Busy week :)

August 17, 2009

I’ve been so busy as of late that its hard to keep up with the blogs! Last week i had 6 jobs , 2 go sees, and a test shoot. I feel really productive and accomplished ๐Ÿ™‚

The week started off on Monday with a trunk show at Neiman Marcus Palo Alto for Oscar de La Renta. I must say that Oscar is definitely my all time favorite designer. His use of color and amazing designs and workmanship really do it for me. I always look forward to doing his trunk shows because i get to see his newest and latest designs coming out the next season. This season i was really impressed with his gowns…. they were absolutely gorgeous!!

After the trunk show i had to shoot over to the Macys Passport casting (benefits HIV & AIDS Charity’s); which is by far the most dreadful casting in my opinion. Its pretty brutal and is the hardest audition held in San Francisco. What sucks the most is you have to walk in front of a large group of other models and a panel of 5 judges who run the audition.ย  This is my second year attending the casting and each time i feel like this is it, this is the year i get it. But once again, not this year. its okay there will be more opportunities. its just the way the cookie crumbles ๐Ÿ™‚ After modeling all these years, you learn to not to take offense to anything because you’re just not the look they want.

The next day was Day two of the Oscar de La Renta trunk show. Once again i was dressed in only the finest gowns i have ever seen. Its always nice when you do informals for designers that you like because it always makes the time go by faster ๐Ÿ™‚ Then, Wednesday was my day off from work so i took the opportunity to run some errands that i had been wanting to take care of.

Thursday rolled around and i had to drive down to Carmel for an Event at Wilkes Bashford and the Quail motorsport event. I got there a couple hours earlier than my call time and had an excellent lunch with my Parents. We walked around for a little enjoying the sight of all the amazing vintage and ridiculously priced cars. When 4pm came around, i reported at Wilkes Bashford to find that the girls and i would be wearing Pamela Roland gowns. They were magnificent! We wore the gowns and mingled with customers and even met Pamela Roland herself. After the event my parents and i headed down to Monterey where they were holding car auctions. There were such amazing cars everywhere it was crazy!

We walked around downtown Monterey for a little while and continued to admire the beautiful cars. It started to get late and we had to back to the hotel so i could get some rest since my call time was 6 am the next day. So early!! I woke up at 5 am and got ready to go to The Quail Lodge clubhouse which was the meeting place for the models. As soon as i arrived i was told i was assigned to the coolest futuristic car…. the 1997 McLarenย  F1. It was definitely a beauty. I was so excited to be assigned this car because it meant that i would get the coolest make up and hair do since the car was so “futuristic”.

After a few hours of hair and makeup, some of the hair and make up artists and i decided we were hungry so we decided to go explore. We went down to the golf course where all the cars where being shown. There were tents set up all around the perimeter of the golf course where there were food/buffet stands, champagne and wine bars, an oyster bar, a caviar stand, etc… it was definitely a high class event. The gourmet food was delicious and so was the refreshing blood orange mimosa i was sipping on. We quickly ate some food and then walked around to view all the cars before we had to go back upstairs.

I took a few pics of the cars before i returned upstairs to freshen up my make up and hair.ย  By 1:30 pm i was dressed in my gown and frosted with diamond jewelery and ready to shoot.ย  We walked back down to theย  golf course and i began to shoot with the McLaren F1. The shoot only lasted about 20 min but i’m hoping we got one really good shot. Soon after the shoot was done we headed over to the award area where we handed out champagne and and a trophy to the winners. Best of Show was awarded to Bob Lee’s 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B, which was finished in bright lipstick red. It was definitely an outstanding car.

We finished handing out the awards and then went back to clubhouse and called it a day. It was time to head back home. My parents came to pick me up from the Quail and we were stuck in traffic for over an hour trying to get out of the lodge. What a long day it was, but it was definitely worth it. I mean how often is it that you get to be surrounded by million dollar cars and beautiful people, sipping champagne and eating oysters and caviar? Tickets for The Quail were reportedly being exchanged for over 2000 dollars prior to the event, so crazy!

We made it home by 9pm that Friday night and i went to bed right away so i could wake up early for work the next morning. Saturday was the Trend Show at Neiman Marcus Palo Alto. I woke up early, took my dog for a run and then got ready and headed off to Palo Alto. The theme of the show was “if fashion is a crime, we’re guilty”. At the show, leopard and leggings and red were shown to the crowd and were the picks of fall. There were some hot little outfits… looks like i will have to get some new clothes this season ๐Ÿ™‚

must haves of fall: red jacket (chanel) leggings ( Rock & Republic) and hot booties (Chrisitian Louboutin)

To finish off the week, i had a test shoot with Raj Bhardwaj on Sunday. We shot by the Embarcadero in SF. The concept of the shoot was European edgy mixed with angles and sophisticated chic. I’m excited to see how they turned out. We shot two looks and i definitely think we got something good ๐Ÿ™‚

Well that was my week… hopefully this week gets a little busier, i like staying active and busy ๐Ÿ™‚
